The 5th, 6th and 7th sentence on page 123 happens to be a wonderful sequence in this wonderful book in a wonderful series of books: "Somewhere, far away, there was a grunting sound, but she was not afraid, and she walked out of the hut to stand underneath the sky and draw the dry, clear air into her lungs. And she thought: I am just a tiny person in Africa, but there is a place for me, and for everybody, to sit down on this earth and touch it and call it their own. She waited for another thought to come, but none did, and so she crept back into the hut and the warmth of the blankets on her sleeping mat." "In Mexico, the political system is such that the government credits and inspects clinics and hospitals, but does not attempt to get in between the doctor and patient. In short, it leaves doctoring to doctors. This means they are free to use treatments from countries around the world which have proven successful in battling cancer." No, I do not have cancer although my mother died of cancer and I have had personal friends who did or are currently battling this disease. I am fascinated with information like this on preventive medicine and gentle, non-toxic treatments that are available to treat cancer other than the conventional surgery, chemo and radiation. I think everyone should read some of this type of information / research and then decide what you do and don't believe before you or a loved one are facing a battle like this. It is very hard to make huge decisions about treatments when you are in the midst of the battle. Technically, the gardening book is closest. So, here are the three sentences.... "I'm a hands-on, down-in-the-dirt gardener, and I love the feel of earth between my fingers and under my fingernails. But I don't like taking soil to the dinner table. I tried hand creams, gloves and nail brushes before I finally found something that works: denture cleaning tablets." So, there it is -- hope you enjoyed it -- guess I need to go get some denture cleaning tablets.....
