Nothing Much Update

posted October 4th, 2006 by Shannon

I have all these posts that I want to write running around in my head. But I want to post a picture with most of them and our photos are still on our camera. I could download those, but I’m too lazy right now. So you just get a text update tonight. And a short one at that. I’ve been working on some things for George but I need his help to finish it up and he’s on the phone now. So I’ll updated you until he gets off the phone. (Pardon the randomness).

Hannah weighs 9 pounds 10 ounces as of yesterday. She may also be going through a growth spurt right now because she wanted to eat A LOT today. She also wasn’t staying asleep too well this evening. Makes the mama tired.

Nathan has been in big boy underwear since his birthday on Monday. We just decided we were tired of him being in diapers. We’ve had plenty of accidents but he’s getting there. The trick that appears to be working (at least this week) is letting him tickle mommy every time he puts something in the potty. Apparently that’s an attractive motivation for a little boy.

We’re headed back to SA this weekend. Some friends from our old church are graciously giving us a baby shower. We’re looking forward to seeing some of our friends there. (Not looking forward to the drive with 3 kiddos though.)

We joined a food co-op here. Every other week we get a box of fresh organic produce, much of it is supposed to come from local farms. This is our first week. It’s working out well so far (in fact I think I’ll go grab a plum or two right now), but, uh, does anyone have a recipe for bok choy?

Well that’s it for the update. George is off the phone now. Good night!

  1. Chinese cabbage, eh? Oh, have I got a recipe for you! *ahem* KIMCHI!!! Although cabbage kimchi is most often made with the other type of chinese cabbage, Pe-tsai, it can also be made with bok choy.

(There are many variations of kimchi, including radish kimchi, cucumber kimchi and water kimchi.)

  2. Shannon,
I was giggling at the whole “I have all these posts that I want to write running around in my head. But . . . ” bit, becuase of late I’d say the same thing, except it would end with,”I don’t have a blog!!!” Guess that’s what happens when hubby is at work too much, and I have no one to talk to(?)

Oh, for big boy undies in our house! We’ve tried, recently even, but Kaelen’s been sick this week, and we’ve had a number of urgent things that I’ve needed to leave the house to take care of . . . not very condusive to keeping Ko in his Underoos! Oh well, but congrats to you!

    Hugs

  3. A much belated congrats to your growing family! I’ve been following along and keeping up. I too checked everyday leading up to the birth to see if yesterday was the day. I had wonderend if the “jen” above was the Jen I know. From this last post, the answer is yes. Fun!!

The big boy pants are such a milestone…wait till he asks why he–a BIG BOY–has to go in the GIRL potty room with you when you’re out and he needs to go! That’s one of those Just Becasue moments!!

    Take Care!!
    C

  4. Hey Cathy! Thanks for commenting – it’s always nice to know who’s visiting our little blog. We have two Jen friends that have commented out our blog. Yep, the Jen above is definitely the one you know. (The other is a friend from college.) I hope you and your boys (the little ones as well as the grown-up one) are doing well!
