Kidless Week

posted July 9th, 2006 by Shannon

We spent the last week without our precious kiddos while they played at Gran and Gramps’ house. They spent their time making playdough, fishing with Gramps, taking walks to the park, picking veggies from Gramps’ garden, having a picnic lunch in the playhouse, decorating their bike/trike and riding it in the July 4th parade. I can’t say that we had that much fun, although it was a good (productive) week. George’s workspace in the garage is now usable. I now have a shelf in the laundry room. I went through the top drawer of our filing cabinet and got it organized (and threw a LOT of stuff away in the process.) We had several discussions on money and our budget – not exactly the most fun thing to talk about, but definitely important now that George is self-employed.

We’re glad to have them back now. Emily got excited yesterday when I told her mommy and daddy worked hard and got a lot done last week so I should have more time to be with her next week. I’d really like to spend some time with each of them before #3 comes. Sometimes it’s just too convenient that they are at a stage where they play so well together. It’s easy to work on one more thing from the “Do before baby #3 comes” list while they play together in their room. I hope I can find the right balance in these next 5 weeks or so.

In the meantime, they have already made their reservations made for a long weekend at Grammy and Granddad’s house. That will be another nice break for us! But I plan to do my best to enjoy them until then!
