Meatloaf - Box

Meet Meatloaf. He’s 10 months old. The kids are in love.

Meatloaf

(His name may change if we find something we like better. Got any suggestions?)

  1. Katherine will be so excited. Hooligan would love to meet her 4 legged cousin but I don’t think that will happen. Sam on the other had will have to stock up on the allergy pills so we can come visit. I used to hate cats but now I actually like cats but we will never have one. My cat’s name was Toby and it worked well.

  2. Oh, do tell – where did you get him? And what prompted the cat-getting? And how are you doing with one more thing to keep alive – my kids are begging for a dog, and I’m just not sure I can remember to feed one more thing! And do tell us, if you change the name!

  3. We adopted this guy from CLASP, Cowtown Loves Animal Shelter Pets. You can check them out here: http://www.cowtownpets.com/

We’ve been wanting to get a cat for some time now. I came really close to getting one for Christmas, but we eventually decided that getting a new pet right when we would be doing a lot of traveling would not be a good idea. We also had a pet gerbil, and we didn’t know how it would work out with those two in the house at the same time. Well, we recently lost the gerbil. The kids were pretty sad about that. We buried her in the back yard on Saturday.

Last Sunday we were on our way home after eating a nice lunch out when our oldest daughter said, “look a pet store, can we go to the pet store please?”. We said sure why not and went in to browse around. They love to watch all the different animals. Well, a lady from CLASP was there with a few cats. We got to talking to her about one of them and discovered that he may be exactly what we were hoping to find. A cat that is good with kids, laid back, won’t mind being picked up, but still likes to play. So far he has lived up to our expectations quite well. The kids carry him around and he doesn’t mind at all. He loves the attention. When there not here, he seems to wander around looking for them. And they love to watch him chase after his little toy mouse on a string. Bear was a little intimidated at first, but now she will follow him around just babbling away and petting him.

My allergies have not been an issue at all. I was certainly concerned about that. I have had problems with some cats in the past. So I spent some time with him in my lap before we brought him home. Even rubbed my nose in his fur just to be sure.

I think the name Meatloaf may just stick. I call him other things too like Meatball, Meathead, Mr Wiskers, or McFuzzy

  4. I would call him “Aaaa-choo!” 😉

  5. Thanks for posting his picture, I was anxiously-patiently waiting to see the fellow. Hopefully we can come meet him soon — oh wait, I guess I’ll up be there for for Girl’s Weekend. : )

  6. I will warn anyone who might sleep on Shan/George’s couch that Meatloaf makes a great little heater during the night. As the sun begins to rise, you might want to get up and put some food in his bowl. Emily came in shortly before 7 to snuggle. When Meatloaf suddenly bit my toe, she suggested the reason was because he thought there was a mouse under the covers. She suggested I put my feet on top of the covers so he could see them. That didn’t help & there were no blankets to soften the bite! Pushing him off of the couch with my foot didn’t work either because he just came right back for more. We finally decided he was hungry. He doesn’t understand yet that you can’t get up until the first number is a 7! But he was friendly & wanted to make up and play again after he had some food in his tummy.
