The photo on the left is the final photo before the POD left us. On the right is a photo right after the POD arrived. Not too bad. Looks like most everything stayed put. George was just glad the door actually opened!

In need of a couch? A movie? A table? This is what you do when almost all of your posessions are in a big white box somewhere.

What do the following items have in common – a purple crazy straw, a piece of colored chalk, a twist tie, a homemade Christmas ornament, 2 popsicle sticks, a Waxahachie ISD pen, a 15″ long stick, and an expired (as of 07/31/00) coupon for 70 cents off Quacker Chewy granola bars?
Any clues?

Ya-hoo. We are now in our new house – AND we now have internet. A few difficulties here and there, but overall things have gone fairly smoothly. I’ll attempt to go back and retro-blog some of the things between the last post and now, but until then I’ll give you a quick update.
Yesterday was a bit rough for me as I was overwhelmed upon first entering the house. I didn’t remember so many things that needed to be done. Let’s just say that we did a much better job leaving our old house clean for our buyer than the seller’s did for us. We spent last night and most of today just cleaning the kitchen. Actually my mom deserves most of the credit. She worked while I spent several hours in the car driving to look at a used washer and dryer in “good condition”. (“Good condition” being a big overstatement.) Next is the kid’s bathroom – ewww! Mom said for that room she’d take us up on the cleaning gloves we offered her earlier today. I’m excited again about the house now, but ready to get it cleaned and get all our stuff in here. One more day dedicated to cleaning and then the rest of the stuff arrives on Friday.

The kid’s room has a built-in loft. My guess is that they like it.

Our vehicles were a bit loaded as we pulled out of SA. Only one vehicle could see out the back window. *sigh* Not having a lot of experience pulling anything (especially without use of a rearview mirror), I chose to drive the kid vehicle. Luckily they both took naps, just not at exactly the same times.

Here George is adding a few more things to the POD before it is picked up. Everything else is either going to have to go into (or on) one of our vehicles – or be left behind. It’s going to be tight. Kids, don’t try this at home!

Our POD arrived today. I was impressed with how they moved the POD from the big truck to my driveway. Fun to watch. It’s empty now, but that will start to change tomorrow. Our SOLD sign was installed yesterday morning. It’s all a bit exciting, a bit scary, and a bit unreal.

I thought some of you might be curious to hear the next installment of the home-selling saga…. I wrote the last update on Friday. We had 5 showings on Saturday and Sunday which resulted in both a signed contract and a backup contract. We didn’t get the first contract fully signed until Tuesday, so they still have several days left in their option period. However, we are happy to report that so far things are looking better this week.

For those who don’t know, the buyer on our house backed out on her contract earlier this week for some personal reasons. So we’re back into the “Invasion of the Home Shoppers” phase. Not really the situation we were hoping to be in right now but we’re hanging in there.
